NOT A LOT OF THINGS GET US AS PASSIONATE AS PLANTS DO picture

Plants are life and obviously, Cannabis gets us super excited!

It is truly a WONDERPLANT

Cannabis never ceases to amaze with its myriad of beneficial compounds, which we proudly harness in our products. But have you ever wondered how the cannabis plant produces these remarkable compounds?

THE ROLE OF GLANDULAR TRICHOMES

These are the microscopic, hair-like structures on the plant’s surfaces, including stems and leaves, where the magic happens. These trichomes are not just plant features; they are vital to the plant's defense strategy, part of its secondary metabolism designed to protect it from threats.

A Natural Defense System
Trichomes produce chemicals that not only deter pests and shield the plant from harmful UV rays but also help fend off competing flora. For instance, planting roses or lavender near cannabis is a no-go; cannabis can inhibit their growth. These chemicals also attract beneficial insects for pollination and protect the plant from fungal and bacterial infections, showcasing their crucial role in the plant’s survival.

Benefits for the Plant—and for Us
Interestingly, the protective and healing compounds produced by the trichomes that benefit the plant have similar beneficial effects in humans. This symbiosis is what makes cannabis such a uniquely valuable plant for medicinal purposes.

Trichomes at Their Peak
On the cannabis flower, trichomes give a crystallized look, especially when at their peak production phase. This is when they produce THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids, contributing to the strain-specific attributes like flavor, aroma, and potency.

HARVESTING THE GOODNESS

Before extraction, the plant undergoes a careful preparation process to preserve the precious cannabinoids and terpenes. This includes a controlled drying process in a specialized room equipped with heaters, coolers, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers to ensure optimal conditions. The drying process, followed by a curing period of 35 to 60 days with constant humidity monitoring, prepares the plant for extraction. While several extraction methods exist, each with its advantages and drawbacks, we steer clear of methods using harmful solvents like butane or hexane, which can leave dangerous residues.

OUR EXTRACTION METHOD

Heat and Agitation
Our preferred method, it is safe and effective, utilizing precise heat settings and agitation in specialized extractors to derive the oil without the risk associated with other techniques. Through understanding and harnessing the natural processes of the cannabis plant, we produce high-quality, effective products that capture the true essence of what this wonder plant has to offer.

WHAT IS CANNABIS

Cannabis is also known as marijuana among other names. For centuries, the cannabis plant, native to Central and South Asia, has served as a recreational (use for pleasure), entheogenic (traditional), and medical drug.

The 3 different types of cannabis that we use in our Wonderplant Range

Sativa - This primary marijuana strain type is known for its uplifting effects. Sativa strains are often chosen for daytime activities, particularly those that require physical energy or high levels of social interaction. HIGH THC LEVEL:

  • Energizing
  • Stimulating
  • Reduce Anxiety
  • Increase Creativity
  • Increase Focus

Indica - Known for its calming effects, indica strains are favoured by medical marijuana patients to help with sleep and pain relief. This strain is best suited for evening use or when little to no physical activity is planned. HIGH CBD LEVEL:

  • Relaxing
  • Relief of pain
  • Decreases nausea
  • Increase appetite
  • Better sleep

Hybrid - These strains are a blend of indica and sativa, offering a balance that incorporates the benefits of both. Hybrids are versatile, making them suitable for a variety of uses depending on their specific indica-to-sativa ratio. MIX:

  • Indica and Sativa effects depending in the traits from their parent strains

It's fascinating how cannabis can affect people differently, much like how red wine may make one person sleepy, while rosé seems to energize another. Similarly, indica strains typically help users unwind or prepare for sleep due to their relaxing properties, while sativa strains can energize and uplift, making them great for creative endeavors. While it might seem straightforward, the effects of cannabis are not entirely black and white, as the distinction between indica and sativa can often blend, especially in hybrid varieties. Each strain's impact can vary widely, making personal experiences with cannabis unique.

EXPLORING CBD & THC

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of the numerous active compounds found in the cannabis plant. Typically, it is the second most prevalent cannabinoid after THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).

Why Combine CBD & THC?

CBD is beneficial on its own, but its therapeutic potential is enhanced when combined with THC. This synergy occurs because the compounds interact to amplify each other’s effects, known as the "entourage effect."

Applications of THC and CBD Together

THC is widely used to manage various medical conditions and symptoms. For instance, cancer patients often use THC to alleviate nausea and vomiting following chemotherapy. However, THC’s psychoactive effects, which can increase anxiety and heart rate, may be undesirable for some. Introducing CBD can mitigate these effects; at a ratio of 2:1 of CBD to THC, the high associated with THC is neutralized, allowing users to benefit from THC’s properties without the unwanted psychoactivity.

Moreover, THC can enhance CBD’s effectiveness in treating certain conditions. This is particularly evident in cases like Dravet syndrome, a severe form of childhood epilepsy. While high doses of CBD alone can be beneficial, some find that a combination of CBD and THC yields even better results. In summary, while CBD and THC can be effective individually, their combination often results in a more balanced approach to medical cannabis treatment, minimizing unwanted effects while maximizing therapeutic benefits.
